'Narrows' to bow with live Q&A

Cinedigm will simulcast discussion with stars

Staff report

June 1, 2009, 10:21 PM ET

Cinedigm Digital Cinema will host what it's billing as the first-ever live virtual Q&A between a film cast and theater audiences nationwide as a part of the June 19 opening-night of the feature film "The Narrows."

Francois Velle's film, which premired at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, stars Kevin Zegers, Vincent D'Onofrio and Sophia Bush, who will participate in the Q&A from New York, where they will answer in real-time audience questions submitted via text message as well as questions submitted prior to the event via Facebook.

The live Q&A will be simulcast to selected theaters across the country via satellite transmission using Cinedigm's proprietary CineLive technology, which was used for BCS Championship and NBA All Star games earlier this year. Approximately 6,000 theaters nationwide have upgraded their systems from traditional film print to digital projection and broadcast, about 70% of which are managed by Cinedigm.

The film premieres in 17 cities nationwide on June 19, including New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
