Kelsey Grammer to star in 'Roman's Empire'

May 23, 2008 Kelsey Grammer is eyeing a quick return to primetime with a starring role on ABC's comedy pilot "Roman's Empire." "Empire" is a single-camera comedy that centers on Leo (Nick Thune), a lovable guy who, after getting dumped by his girlfriend (Christine Woods), tries but cannot extricate himself from her wealthy family, the Prettys, and her outrageous, overbearing father, Roman Pretty (Grammer). The single-camera "Roman's Empire" marks a departure for Grammer from the multi-camera format after his 20-year stint as Dr. Frasier Crane on NBC's "Cheers" and "Frasier" and his starring role on Fox's "Back to You" this past season.
