'Pushing Daisies' debuts strong for ABC

October 05, 2007 The critical favorite debuted strongly and averaged 12.8 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic to win both measures at 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to preliminary estimates released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research. Both shows showed declines from last week's premieres, "Private Practice" down 13% in adults 18-49 and "Bionic Woman" falling 30% in the demo. "Private Practice" was still the night's top show in the demo but another winner had to be CBS's "Criminal Minds" (14.4 million,, 3.7/9), which was up 6% week-to-week in adults 18-49 and reclaimed the top spot in viewership.
