Comedy duo goes 'Off Duty'

July 02, 2008 NBC is going "Off Duty" with Upright Citizens Brigade comedian Jason Mantzoukas and "Semi-Pro" writer Scot Armstrong. Sources said the network has handed out a cast-contingent pilot order to the single-camera buddy comedy, penned by Mantzoukas, that revolves around cops who can't leave their job at the station. After going mostly for straight-to-series orders this past development cycle, NBC now has ordered three pilots since the upfronts: "Off Duty"; an untitled workplace comedy from writer Jon Pollack, which also received a cast-contingent pickup; and "LAPD," an ensemble cop drama from executive producer John Wells.
