News Corp.'s Murdoch gets pay raise


September 08, 2007 News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch received a pay raise last fiscal year, boosting his compensation package to $24.3 million, nearly matching the pay of his second in command. Murdoch, who won a deal to buy Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones & Co Inc., was paid a base salary of $8.1 million in the fiscal year ended June 30, up $3.6 million from the previous year, according to regulatory filings. Peter Chernin, News Corp. chief operating officer, received a compensation package of $27 million.
