'Wrestler' interest high in Toronto

September 08, 2008 Buyer interest in Darren Aronofsky's character drama "The Wrestler" reached a high pitch in the early hours of Monday morning at the Toronto International Film Festival, as seller CAA began to sift through bids from eager distributors. Talk at the fest, particularly at a high-wattage afterparty on the rooftop of the city's Park Hyatt, centered on the shortlist of suitors, which some pegged as including Fox Searchlight and Overture. The movie, starring a resurgent Mickey Rourke, garnered heavily enthusiastic responses at its Elgin premiere and seemed likely to become the first major sale of the fest.
