'Idol,' 'Lost' finish strong, but down from 2006

May 25, 2007 Fox's "American Idol" finished its sixth season with a strong but diminished finale while the "Lost" season finale fell double digits compared to last year. Wednesday's 'Idol' finale dropped 22% in adults 18-49 (11.1 rating/30 share) compared to last year's 14.2/35 and down 19% to 29.5 million compared to last year's 36.4 million, according to preliminary data released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research. Of course "American Idol" remained the top show on television, not only for the night but also for the season (save for the Super Bowl).
