USA Network has greenlighted a pair of cast-contingent pilots,
"White Collar" and "Royal Pains," both of which have been given
90-minute orders.
"White Collar," from Fox TV Studios and writer/executive producer Jeff Eastin ("Hawaii"), centers on the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent. "Royal Pains," from the Firm, is a medical show that centers on an ex-ER doctor who becomes the on-call doctor for the rich and infamous in the Hamptons. The pilot, written and co-executive produced by Andrew Lenchewski, is executive produced by Rich Frank and Paul Frank. John Rogers is producing. "What sets these two projects apart is having an original voice and being about something that you can't find anywhere else," USA's Jeff Wachtel said. These are USA's first pilot orders in two years, partly because the cable network scored with its most recent offerings and partly because of the writers strike that led to merging two development seasons. "White Collar" and "Pains" were among four projects announced in March. The other two, "Shirleyville" and "The Nanny Files," remain in contention for August-September, when the network is planning to pick up one or two more series.
