Harry Hamlin navigates to 'Harper's Island' for CBS

Broadway actors Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele have been cast in "Glee," Ryan Murphy's new musically themed project for Fox that is on a fast track for a March launch.

Meanwhile, Harry Hamlin has joined another show targeted for midseason, CBS' horror drama series "Harper's Island."

The hourlong comedy "Glee," from 20th TV, centers on Will (Morrison), a thirtysomething Spanish teacher at an Ohio high school who has the daunting task of taking over the school's glee club, which has become a haven for outcasts.

Michele will play the club's self-obsessed "star female singer."

"Glee," which will feature up to four musical numbers per episode, received a pilot pickup and an order for four additional scripts in July.

Gersh-repped Morrison has an extensive Broadway resume that includes roles in "The Light in the Piazza," which earned him a Tony nomination, "Hairspray" and his current stint on "South Pacific."

Michele's Broadway credits include "Spring Awakening," "Les Miserables" and "Ragtime."

"Harper's Island," from CBS Paramount, is a serialized drama revolving around a group of friends who are terrorized when they meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding.

Hamlin will play the groom's (Christopher Gorham) uncle Marty, an outgoing, charming womanizer who attends the wedding.

Hamlin replaces Bill Pullman, who played the role in the presentation but only agreed to do it because of his relationship with executive producer/director Jon Turteltaub. He was never expected to stay on if the project went to series.
