Nielsen won't log RNC ratings for Day 1

Networks returning to coverage after Gustav dissipates

By Paul J. Gough

Sept 2, 2008, 12:14 PM ET

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday that it wouldn't provide ratings for the first day of the Republican National Convention.

It makes sense. For the most part, there wasn't any convention Monday.

Nielsen -- which owns The Hollywood Reporter -- said that if things return to normal, it would go back to providing audience estimates for Tuesday and beyond.

And it appears at this point that the networks will go back to the coverage, since the RNC is going forward with a modified schedule that will include primetime.
