Hallmark Channel has greenlighted sequels to its original movies
"The Good Witch" and "The Note."
"Witch's" Catherine Bell and Chris Potter and "Note's" Genie Francis and Ted McGinley are set to reprise their roles in "The Good Witch 2" (working title) and "Taking a Chance on Love," respectively. In "Witch 2," which goes into production later this month in Toronto for a 2009 premiere, Cassie Nightingale's (Bell) relationship with Police Chief Jake Russell (Potter) is threatened when a new man enters her life. The original "Witch," which premiered in January, ranks as Hallmark Channel's second-highest-rated original movie ever. The sequel is from Whizbang Films, with Frank Siracusa, Orly Adelson and Jonathan Eskenas exec producing. Bell is co-executive producing, and Andrea Raffaghello is producing. Craig Pryce will direct from a script by G. Ross Parker. "Love" is set to go into production next month in Toronto for a January premiere. In the movie, newspaper columnist Peyton (Francis) investigates a reader's letter of lost love that gives her insight into her own life and the risk one must take to fall in love again. McGinley plays her colleague King Danville. "Note," a December 2007 holiday movie, ranks as the network's fourth-highest-rated original movie. The sequel, from Lightworks Pictures and Muse Entertainment, is exec produced by Joel S. Rice and William Spencer Reilly and produced by Steve Solomos. Douglas Barr will direct from his own script.
