Apple reports 50,000 movies rented daily

LONDON -- Apple's iTunes Music Store has burst through the 5 billion download sales milestone, the computer giant said Thursday.

The iTunes online store boasts a licensed catalog of more than 8 million songs, over 20,000 TV episodes and more than 2,000 film titles.

The company also reported that its customers are renting and purchasing more than 50,000 movies each day, from a library of films licensed from such studos as 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Paramount, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and New Line Cinema.
