NBC beefs up 'Enemy, 'Philanthropist'

NBC has added more key pieces to two of its recently picked up series that will be showcased at NBC Universal's upfront event Monday.

"Boston Legal" co-star Saffron Burrows has been tapped to co-star opposite Christian Slater in the drama series "My Own Worst Enemy," while "Battlestar Galactica" exec producer David Eick is in negotiations to take the helm of "The Philanthropist."

Both UMS-produced series are slated to air in the Monday 10 p.m. slot, "Enemy" in the fall and "Philanthropist" in midseason.

"Enemy" stars Slater as Henry, a suburban dad whose alter ego, Edward, is a spy. Burrows, repped by ICM and Evolution, will play Norah, Edward's girlfriend and Henry's shrink.

"Philanthropist" centers on a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need no matter what the risks or costs.

Eick succeeds Tom Fontana. Fontana wrote the pilot script and oversaw several other scripts until he parted ways with NBC over creative differences last month.

Eick, who also exec produced NBC's ill-fated remake of "Bionic Woman" last season, will serve as an exec producer alongside Charlie Corwin, on whose idea the project is based.
