Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind "Sesame Street," said Monday that it's going into production on an updated version of "The Electric Company."

The show, targeted at 6- to 9-year-olds, will continue to focus on reading but be updated for a multimedia audience. Weekly episodes are set to debut in January on PBS Kids.
