Megan Mullally has been tapped to star opposite Alicia Silverstone in the ABC comedy pilot "Bad Mother's Handbook."

In other casting news, Annie Potts and Amanda Detmer have come aboard ABC's untitled Kristin Newman comedy pilot, while Domenick Lombardozzi, Jacob Vargas, Malachi Weir, Tasha Smith and Tzi Ma have joined the network's drama presentation "Finnegan."

"Handbook," from ABC Studios, is a single-camera comedy about a 32-year-old woman (Silverstone) too busy taking care of her teenage daughter (Alia Shawkat) and her mother (Mullally).

Mullally, who is finishing a run in "Young Frankenstein" on Broadway, is repped by Gersh and Untitled.

The untitled Kristin Newman project, from ABC Studios and DreamWorks TV, is a single-camera comedy that centers on a thirtysomething woman who tries to break free of her overbearing and dysfunctional family, friends and boss.

Potts ("Men in Trees") is playing Elizabeth. Detmer ("What About Brian") is playing Sasha.
"Finnegan," from ABC Studios, focuses on the organized crime/vice unit in Los Angeles, which is led by a tough female detective.

Playing her colleagues are Lombardozzi ("The Wire") as Carbo, Vargas ("Moonlight") as Smash, Weir ("The Naked Brothers Band") as Mutt and Smith ("Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?") as McCants. Ma ("24") is playing her boss, Chu.
