An L.A. staple will visit one of the city's most famous destinations, "Melrose Place."

L.A. Lakers star-turned-actor Rick Fox has been tapped for a recurring role on the CW's new series.

On the show, a contemporary take on the popular 1990s soap, Fox will play the owner of the restaurant where all the aspiring actors on the show work.

Fox, whose series credits include "One Tree Hill," "Ugly Betty" and "The Game," is managed by Evolution.

Meanwhile, fans of the original "Melrose Place," which ran on Fox, continue to buzz over rumors of a possible stint of one of the series' signature stars, Heather Locklear, on the new "Melrose" show.
