"Chuck" executive producer Scott Rosenbaum is taking the reins of
ABC's new sci-fi drama series "V" as executive
produce/showrunner.
The move is part of a two-year seven-figure overall deal Rosenbaum has inked with "Chuck" producer Warner Bros. Television which also produces "V." "V," based on the 1980s miniseries, launches Tuesday amidst strong fan buzz and solid reviews. It will air four episodes, ending with a cliffhanger before the returning in the spring for the rest of its 13-episode order. Behind the scenes, there have been bumps. Production on the show was shut down in late August for "creative hiatus" after two post-pilot episodes had been shot. Reevaluating the creative direction of the series, the studio made a change at the helm, switching showrunner responsibilities from executive producer Jeff Bell, who had joined in June, to executive producer Scott Peters, who penned the pilot. The show resumed production in mid-October to film one more episode for the initial four-episode run before going on a holiday hiatus. Meanwhile, Rosenbaum was approached by WBTV brass to take over the big-budget series. The writer-producer, who is still on "Chuck," will make the transition to "V" later this month. Peters will continue as executive producer alongside Jace Hall and Steve Pearlman, while Bell is expected to depart. "V" is scheduled to resume production in January. On the development side, Rosenbaum has an untitled Western with a sci-fi twist set up at Fox with a significantly penalty attached. That project, produced by WBTV and McG's studio-based Wonderland Sound and Vision, might be put on hold as the writer-producer focuses on "V." Rosenbaum, who also served as an executive producer on FX's "The Shield," is repped by UTA.
