Michael Landes inks 20th pact

Talent holding deal includes development component

Michael Landes has inked a talent holding deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

Under the one-year pact, which includes a development component, Landes will topline a series project developed for him or will be cast in an existing 20th TV pilot.

The deal extends Landes' relationship with the studio. Following his role on "The Wedding Bells" -- David E. Kelley's dramedy for Fox and 20th TV -- he was signed in fall 2007 to a talent deal by Fox and 20th TV. It led to a starring role on Paul Attanasio's legal dramedy pilot "Courtroom K."

It was the opportunity to work with writers of Kelley and Attanasio's caliber that lured Landes to ink a new deal with 20th TV. He said he is pumped up about development and is looking to do an hourlong show.

"I think life is both comedy and drama," he said, "and if you can fit that in an hour show, that's ultimately what I want to do."

20th TV head of casting Sharon Klein agreed.

"I totally believe he is a TV star," she said. "I think his charm and his humor are incredibly compelling, and he has a very unique and distinctive quality that sets him apart."

Landes is the second "Courtroom K" cast member to land a talent deal following Megan Dodds' recent pact with Fox and 20th TV.

With the tough economic environment, networks and studios are slashing the number of talent deals this year to a point where we "only sign actors if they are extraordinarily special," Klein said.

Landes, who next appears in the features "Possession" and "Last Chance Harvey," is repped by CAA and attorneys Jason Sloane and Harris Hartman.
