Dish Network's Q3 profit falls 13%

Posts second consecutive subscriber gain

NEW YORK -- Dish Network's third-quarter profit fell 13% amid higher costs as the satellite TV giant posted the second consecutive subscriber gain after a year of declines. The company also cited such costs as for patent litigation with DVR pioneer TiVo.

Dish also said it will pay shareholders a special one-time dividend of $2 per share.

Dish added 241,000 subscribers in the third quarter to boost its user base to 13.9 million.

The company's quarterly profit fell 12% to $80.5 million as revenue declined 1.5% to $2.89 billion.

NEW YORK -- Dish Network's third-quarter profit fell 13% amid higher costs as the satellite TV giant posted the second consecutive subscriber gain after a year of declines. The company also cited such costs as for patent litigation with DVR pioneer TiVo.

Dish also said it will pay shareholders a special one-time dividend of $2 per share.
