ABC wants more 'Private Practice'

Sophomore drama gets back-nine order

By Kimberly Nordyke and James Hibberd

Oct 21, 2008, 07:45 PM ET

ABC has picked up "Private Practice" for a full season.

The network has given a back-nine order to the sophomore drama from ABC Studios.

"Practice" is ABC's tentpole show on Wednesday nights, the ringleader of a trio of sophomore shows interrupted by the writers strike. All have returned down significantly this year, but "Practice" has maintained the highest rating of the bunch.

"Practice" is the latest network series to get a full-season pickup, following NBC's "Knight Rider" and "Chuck," CBS' "The Mentalist," Fox's "Fringe" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and CW's "90210."
