'Bones' back on Fox for fall

License-fee haggling delayed fifth-season renewal

By James Hibberd

After protracted haggling over the show's license fee, Fox has picked up veteran dramedy "Bones" for a fifth season.

Negotiations went long between Fox and sister studio 20th TV despite the show's consistently solid performance.

Several older shows that would have breezed into a renewal in years past have met resistance from networks this time as broadcasters search for ways to cut costs.

The show will likely stay on Thursdays next fall, possibly paired with a "So You Think You Can Dance” results show.

"Bones" joins "Dollhouse," "Fringe," "Lie to Me," "24" and "House" among returning Fox dramas.
