TruTV has 'Conspiracy Theory'

Ventura stars in doc series; two more reality series on tap

TruTV has picked up "Conspiracy Theory With Jesse Ventura" to series with a seven-episode order.

Additionally, the cable network has teamed with "Conspiracy" producer A. Smith & Co. ("Hell's Kitchen") for two additional shows, "Full Throttle Saloon" and "Surprise Inspection."

"Conspiracy Theory" will premiere in late 2009, while the other two are slated for 2010.

All three projects are executive produced by Arthur Smith, Kent Weed and Frank Sinton.

The decision to pick up to series "Conspiracy Theory," originally ordered as a pilot last fall, came after a preview of the project received "positive response" at the network's upfront presentation to advertisers, truTV exec vp and general manager Marc Juris said.

In "Conspiracy Theory," former Navy SEAL, wrestler and Minnesota governor Ventura explores the mysteries behind modern-day conspiracies.

"Full Throttle" is a four-part series, which will provide an inside look at the world's largest biker bar, Mike Ballard's Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, S.D.

The two-parter "Surprise Inspection" will follow public health inspectors in Providence, R.I., as they visit some of the city's dirtiest places, including restaurants, hotels, convenience stores, gas stations, stadium concession stands, public swimming pools and health clubs.

"Each of our shows depict high-stakes action and fascinating characters," Smith said.
