Jon Heder to star in online series

Actor will also produce Electric Farm's 'Woke Up Dead'

Jon Heder is venturing into digital entertainment as the star of Electric Farm Entertainment's zombie comedy "Woke Up Dead."

Heder also will serve as a producer on the scripted online series, created by John Fascano, which centers on a USC student who wakes up underwater in the bathtub one morning and suspects that he might be dead.

The project is being done outside the deal Stan Rogow, Brent Friedman and Jeff Sagansky's Electric Farm recently inked with NBC Universal, which gives the conglomerate domestic rights to the company's upcoming Internet sci-fi series "Gemini Division," starring Rosario Dawson.

Sony Pictures TV International co-produces and internationally distributes "Gemini" as well as Electric Farm's first online drama, "Afterworld," on mobile, broadband and traditional TV.

The sci-fi comedy thriller "Dead," which will produce 50 three-minute episodes for online and mobile distribution in the U.S., marks an evolution for Electric Farms because it is live-action with limited CGI elements. ("Afterworld" is a 2.5-D-animated series, while "Gemini" features elaborate 3-D animated backgrounds.)

It was developed with Heder in mind for the lead, Rogow said.

"He will be terrific, he'd always wanted to play a zombie," Rogow said.

Heder, who recently wrapped the feature comedy "When in Rome," is repped by CAA and Mosaic Media Group. Electric Farm is with attorneys Harold Brook and Richard Marks.
