Pike, Young join APSA jury

Jury led by Huang Jianxin begins deliberations next week

HONG KONG -- Documentarian and film historian Andrew Pike and actor-director Aden Young have joined the jury for the third running of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
 
They join Tahmineh Milani (Iran), Feroz Abbas Khan (India), Gina Kim (South Korea) and jury president Huang Jianxin (China). Next week they begin the deliberations that will determine the APSA winners from the 37 short-listed movies. Previously announced juror David Williamson has pulled out due to a scheduling clash.
 
Through his distribution company, Ronin Films, Pike specialized in bringing renowned films from Japan and China to Australian audiences in the 1980s and 1990s as well as handling modern-day Australian classics "Shine" and "Strictly Ballroom."
 
Young was most recently seen in Bruce Beresford's hit "Mao's Last Dancer." He has also worked as a writer-director of award winning shorts, "The Order" and "The Rose Of Ba Ziz" and as a film editor on Paul Cox's "Salvation," "Kaluapapa Heaven" and "Tajiri – Samurai In Space."
 
APSA winners will be announced on Nov. 26 in a ceremony on the Gold Coast, Australia. The ceremony will be attended by the nominees and more than 500 film industry luminaries and present Japan’s chart-topping R&B star AI as its headline entertainment act.
