Clint Eastwood to get French honor

To be awarded Commander of the French Legion of Honor

PARIS -- Clint Eastwood will add "commander of the French Legion of Honor" to his many awards and accolades on Friday in a ceremony in Paris presided by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The 79-year-old actor, composer and filmmaker will receive one of the country's greatest honors -- and with the title of "commander," above those traditionally given to foreign directors and beloved talent, namely the titles of "knight" or "officer."

Eastwood didn't have to cross the Atlantic for the award -- the director has been spending time in London recently shooting his next film "Hereafter" with Matt Damon and Belgian actress Cecile de France, after wrapping production for the film in Paris just weeks ago.

France's Cultural Minister Frederic Mitterand will be attend the ceremony at France's government headquarters the Elysees Palace on Friday along with several personalities from the country's "7th art" biz.
