Sri Lanka film festival postponed

Second event pushed to next year by financial constraints

NEW DELHI -- Sri Lanka's Galle Film Festival, which was to be held December 2-6, has been postponed to next year, organizers said Wednesday.
 
In a statement, organizers said "we regret that the festival has been postponed and apologise for any inconvenience caused to the public."
 
The second Galle festival was to be presented in association with the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Tourism and planned to open with Sri Lankan director Vimukthi Jayasundera’s "Ahasin Wetei" which was in competition at this years Venice Film Festival.
