BERLIN -- German multihyphenate Til Schweiger will receive a Bambi award, one of Germany's top media honors, for his hit romantic comedy "Rabbit Without Ears."

"Rabbit," which Schweiger wrote, directed and starred in, was the No. 1 film in Germany this year, earning more than 40 million euros ($50 million) for Warner Bros. Germany. The musical "Mamma Mia!" was a distant second with $32 million for Universal.

The Bambis, presented by publishing giant Hurbert Burda, are the German industry's gold standard. This year's event will be held Nov. 27 in the western German city of Offenburg.
