September 02, 2008 It's not as slow as people anticipated, says Peter Leitch, president of Mammoth and North Shore studios in Vancouver, which hosts shoots for Fox's Night at the Museum 2, ABC Family's Kyle XY, Sci Fi Channel's Stargate Atlantis and USA Network's Psych. To ease the impact of the strong Canadian dollar on American producers venturing northward, studio operators and other service providers have dropped their prices. Toronto has Filmport, a new megastudio for big-budget, effects-heavy movie shoots comprising an initial seven soundstages with more than 260,000 square feet of space.
