Chapman U. partners with Pusan

Set Korean film showcase for November

Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, Calif., is partnering with the Pusan International Film Festival to bring Korean films and filmmakers to the U.S.

Dodge dean Bob Bassett and PIFF director Lee Yong-Kwan said the inaugural Chapman Pusan West Filmmaker Showcase will be held Nov. 20-22 at Marion Knott Studios on the Chapman campus.

The program will showcase contemporary and classic feature films and documentaries selected from the Pusan festival. Participating filmmakers include Park Chan-wook, bringing his director's cut of "Thirst"; Kim Jee-woon, with "A Bittersweet Life"; Lee Doo-yong, "Last Witness"; Park Jin-sung, "Evil Spirit: VIY"; Kim Dong-won, "Drifting Away"; and Kim Young-nam, "Don't Look Back."

Park Chan-wook also will be honored with Chapman Pusan West's first Pusan West Icon Award during the program's opening ceremony. The director also will conduct a master class for students.
