CANNES -- The French public sent the greatest love letter of all to
Dany Boon's postal worker comedy "Welcome to the Sticks" (Bienvenue
chez les Ch'tis) on Tuesday when the film officially became only
the second in Gallic history to cross the 20 million admissions
mark.
"Sticks," showing in French theaters for just 12 weeks, has only 753,634 tickets left to sell before it breaks the French boxoffice record set by "Titanic" after 23 weeks. While Will Smith celebrates Warner Bros.' upcoming stateside remake of the film back in Hollywood, the film's director and star Dany Boon joined his cast along with Pathe's Claude Berri and Jerome Seydoux to spread their pile of "Ch'tis" across the Festival de Cannes red carpet Wednesday night.
