20. Veronika Kwan-Rubinek
President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures
Kwan-Rubinek considers herself a "juggler," and it's easy to see why: When she's not being a soccer mom, she's in charge of a different sort of game -- overseeing Warner Bros.' slate, including "The Dark Knight," which this year racked up more than $460 million internationally, and the continuing "Harry Potter" series (which is pushing $3 billion in international receipts). The multilingual Kwan-Rubinek grew up in seven countries, which makes her a natural exec with a worldwide focus. And since she joined Warners in 2000, she's helped lift the company's marketing and sales/distribution. She also oversaw eight consecutive years of grosses of more than $1 billion; at press time Warners had racked up $1.67 billion in international boxoffice for 2008. Next year she'll shepherd "Yes Man," "Gran Torino" and the sixth installment of the "Potter" franchise. But should she ever find herself with some real free time, Kwan-Rubinek admits she'd just love to finally get organized at home. |
