Elizabeth Gabler

25. Elizabeth Gabler

President, Fox 2000 Pictures

Gabler has been stymied over how to adapt the prize-winning 2001 book "Life of Pi." "It's got animals, children and water," she laments. "We haven't yet figured out how to make the movie fit the price." Never fear -- with an industry reputation for making films that are smarter and more profitable than most, she will find a way. Gabler came to Fox from ICM in 1999 and turned her focus largely to book adaptations, burning through an average novel in three hours. She recently optioned the best-seller "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen, and her upcoming slate includes non-adaptations "All About Steve" (with Sandra Bullock) and this winter's "Bride Wars," starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. But in her off-hours, any trouble with animals and children gets set aside: Equestrian Gabler unwinds with her show hunters and her 6-year-old daughter. "Seeing the world through her eyes requires a whole different set of skills, and it's great."
