Terry Wood

32. Terry Wood

President of creative affairs and development, CBS Television Distribution

It isn't as if Wood needed another hit, having already overseen the fortunes of eight of first-run syndication's top 10 shows (including "Dr. Phil," "Rachael Ray," "Judge Judy," "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider"). But she added one this year anyway, with the "Dr. Phil" freshman spinoff "The Doctors" breaking out as TV's highest-rated original strip. "It's a new challenge for me every year to maintain our success and stay on people's radar," Wood says, "which is one reason why I admire Oprah (Winfrey) so much." Wood has learned over time to "trust my gut and not be ruled by fear, because without that you have nothing." Her 2009 agenda is topped by new talk shows centered on Valerie Bertinelli and "King of Queens" star Leah Remini. "These are two women with a lot to say and a funny way of saying it."
