57. Nancy Josephson
Partner, Endeavor
Executives beware: "I know where they hide the ball in contracts," laughs onetime attorney Josephson, "because I used to hide it there!" She went on to spend 20 years as a star ICM agent and became the first female president of a major talent agency, earning a rep as a tough but gracious negotiator. In 2006, she shifted to Endeavor and over the past year shepherded client Rosie O'Donnell's variety-show special for NBC (with hopes of a regular series) and found a publisher for Craig Ferguson's upcoming memoir, "American on Purpose." Her 2009 projects include two new shows for powerhouse client Tyra Banks and Portia de Rossi's return to TV with ABC's "Better Off Ted." One of her fondest memories involves bringing Banks to visit a group of abused teens at a Los Angeles residential facility. "Tyra brought those girls such joy," Josephson says. "The value of those two hours she spent with them was something you can't put a price on." |
