International finance, production and distribution banner Senator International unveiled a spate of rights deals Friday at AFM on its upcoming horror thriller "The Grudge." The film has now been sold in major territories including the United Kingdom (UIP), Germany (Constantin), France (Metropolitan) and Australia (Village Roadshow). A Hollywood remake of the hit Japanese feature "Ju-On," "Grudge" is being produced by Sam Raimi and stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, KaDee Strickland, Clea DuVall, William Mapother and Bill Pullman. Senator has also sold rights to the film to distributors including Egmont (Scandinavia), SamFilm (Iceland), Nu Metro (South Africa), Medavizion (Turkey), Zodiac (Poland), AQS (Czech Republic) and PT Amero (Indonesia), among others. "Grudge" is being released domestically through Columbia Pictures in the fall. Senator also said Friday that the company had pacted to sell U.K. and German rights to its upcoming "Boogeyman" to UIP and has pacted with Nippon Herald to roll out the film in Japan. Screen Gems is rolling out "Boogeyman" in North America later this year. Senator is headed by industry vet Joe Drake.
