Duo in the fire

Borys Kit
Ed Harris and Woody Harrelson are the first to go into the fire.

The actors are set to star in the firefighting ensemble movie "3000 Degrees" that Danny Boyle is directing for Warner Bros. Pictures. Billy Crudup also is in negotiations to join the project, which Brian Grazer is producing through Imagine Entertainment.

The drama is an adaptation of Sean Flynn's book "3000 Degrees: The True Story of a Deadly Fire and the Men Who Fought It." The book grew out of Flynn's July 2000 Esquire article detailing a tragic fire that turned a century-old storage building in Worcester, Mass., into a cinderbox that claimed the lives of six firefighters in December 1999. Scott Silver wrote the screenplay.

Production execs Karen Kehela-Sherwood and Jim Whitaker are overseeing the project for Imagine, while Kevin McCormick and David Beaubaire are overseeing for the studio.

Charles Schlissel is executive producing.

Harris next stars in "Winter Passing" and "Empire Falls" for HBO. He is a four-time Oscar nominee, having landed mentions for best supporting actor for "Apollo 13," "The Truman Show" and "The Hours" and a best actor nom for "Pollock."

Harrelson just wrapped "After the Sunset" and appeared in "Anger Management." He starred in "The People vs. Larry Flynt" and "Natural Born Killers."

Crudup appeared in last year's "Big Fish." His other credits include "Almost Famous," "Waking the Dead" and "Without Limits."

All three are repped by CAA. Harris also is repped by Neil Koenigsberg and attorney Melanie Cook. Harrelson is repped by attorney Steve Burkow.
