'Good Life' for Hiltons at NBC

'Life' of their own

Nellie Andreeva
Their daughter, Paris Hilton, found success as a reality star on Fox's "The Simple Life," and now Kathy and Rick Hilton are venturing into reality TV with "The Good Life," a series for NBC.

Sources said the network has given an eight-episode order to the project from Endemol Entertainment for a possible September launch.

The show, to be hosted by Kathy Hilton, is said to be in the vein of "My Fair Lady." It will feature 10 young women from around the country who have unrealized potential.

During the course of the show, Kathy Hilton will give the girls guidance on how to succeed and join "the good life." She will introduce them to different fields -- such as publishing, fashion, cosmetics -- so they can find the area best suited for their talents.

While on the show, contestants will stay at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, which Rick Hilton's grandfather and Hilton hotel-chain founder Conrad Hilton bought in 1949. Contestants will be neighbors to the show's exec producers Kathy and Rick Hilton, who have lived at the nearby Waldorf Towers for the past eight years.

The winner of "The Good Life," who will be determined through a process of elimination, will get a job in the field in which she fared best, a car and a one-year stay at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Endemol produces NBC's powerhouse reality series "Fear Factor." The company recently sold to Fox -- home of Paris Hilton's "The Simple Life" -- "The Next Great Champ," a boxing reality series starring Oscar De La Hoya. The move raised serious concerns among the producers of NBC's own boxing-themed reality series, previously announced "The Contender," which features Sylvester Stallone, Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman (HR 4/19).

In addition to her busy social life, former child actress Kathy Hilton owned a boutique on Hollywood's Sunset Strip and has a line of home products that sell on QVC.

Kathy and Rick Hilton are repped by Neil Stearns of Don Buchwald & Associates and Handprint Entertainment.

Endemol is repped by William Morris and attorney Jeanne Newman.

NBC declined to comment Monday.
