'Numbers' up for Morrow in CBS pilot
'Numbers' game
July 20, 2004
Returning to the network that put him on the map with "Northern Exposure," Rob Morrow has been tapped to star opposite David Krumholtz in CBS' drama pilot "Numbers," which is undergoing major creative and casting changes.
Mick Jackson has come on board to direct what the network calls an "enhanced first episode."
In other pilot casting news, Josh Hopkins has come on board the WB Network midseason drama "Global Frequency."
"Numbers," from Paramount Network TV and Scott Free Prods., centers on a mathematician from MIT (Krumholtz) who is recruited by his FBI agent brother (Morrow) to help the agency solve crimes.
Peter MacNicol, who co-starred in the original pilot, is expected to stay, while Gabriel Macht, who played the FBI agent brother in the pilot, and Michael Rooker, are said to be leaving.
Besides star Morrow and director Jackson (HBO's "Live From Baghdad"), the new additions to "Numbers" include Brooke Kennedy (NBC's "Third Watch"), who has joined the project as an executive producer.
CBS has ordered several additional scripts, so if it likes the "enhanced first episode" and orders "Numbers" to series, the show could go into production immediately.
Morrow, who earned two Emmy nominations for his starring role on "Northern Exposure," most recently starred in the Showtime series "Street Time."
He is repped by WMA and manager Judy Hofflund.
Based on the DC Comics series by Warren Ellis, "Global Frequency" revolves around a worldwide independent defense intelligence organization, led by Miranda Zero (Michelle Forbes), that uses ordinary people as agents to fight black-ops projects, unexplained phenomena and other problems that government agencies struggle with.
In the Warner Bros. TV/Mark Burnett Prods. project, Hopkins will play Global Frequency's newest recruit, suspended cop Sean Ronin, who used to think that the underground organization was an urban legend.
Hopkins most recently filmed a multiepisode arc on Fox's new drama "North Shore."
The actor, who most recently co-starred in Fox's drama pilot "Ricochet," is repped by the Gersh Agency and Handprint Entertainment.
