Rudin, Par partner in 'Launch'

'Launch' sequence

Liza Foreman
Scott Rudin and Paramount Pictures have made a pre-emptive bid on the spec script "Failure to Launch." Penned by Matt Ember and Tom Astle, "Failure" revolves around a thirtysomething guy and his parents. Moving back home to avoid getting into a relationship, he one day meets the girl of his dreams without knowing that she is someone who has been hired by his parents. Astle and Ember's credits include the feature "Buzz," which was acquired by Fox Searchlight, and such TV series as "Titus" and "Brother's Keeper." Astle is repped by ICM. Ember is repped by Endeavor. Exec Allison Brecker-Shearmur will oversee for the studio.
