LONDON -- Flextech-owned LIVINGtv has picked up the first two seasons of acclaimed David E. Kelley drama "Boston Legal" from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, the parties announced on Thursday.
The deal was agreed by LIVINGtv's deputy controller Hannah Barnes and Steve Cornish, SVP and managing director for Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
LIVINGtv, which has first run rights to such premium U.S. fare as "Will & Grace," "The L Word," "CSI" and "Queer Eye For a Straight Guy," will use the acquisition to boost its drama lineup, Barnes said. "This show is just what we have been looking for and will make a perfect accompaniment to our CSI franchise," Barnes said in a statement.
The show, about high-priced civil litigators in an upscale Boston law firm, features a cast including William Shatner and James Spader. "This show has a unique quality all its own -- with a sense of humor and in-depth character development that viewers worldwide can identify with and tap into," commented Fox distribution head Marion Edwards in a statement. "We're happy to be partnered with Flextech and are confident the series will achieve great success in the U.K."
