Oscar winner Sally Field has signed on to topline CBS' drama pilot "Conviction."
In other pilot-casting news, Heather Graham is set to topline ABC's comedy "Emily's Reasons Why Not." Additionally, Colm Meaney has been tapped to co-star in Fox's "Briar & Graves," Lenny Clarke will star in ABC's untitled Mike Caleo project, Robert Patrick has joined CBS' drama "The Unit," and Johnny Messner has landed the lead in Fox's "Deviant Behavior."
"Conviction," from Warner Bros. TV and 25C Prods., is about a team of lawyers, led by a defense attorney-turned-prosecutor (Field), who prosecute major cases. Eriq La Salle was tapped to co-star in the pilot, which Jon Avnet is directing.
The casting reunites Field with WBTV and La Salle. From 2000-03, she guested on the studio's medical drama "ER," which co-starred La Salle. The role earned Field two Emmy nominations and a win in 2001.
Field won Oscars for her performances in "Norma Rae" and "Places in the Heart."
She is wrapping the independent comedy "Two Weeks," in which she is starring opposite Tom Cavanagh and Ben Chaplin.
Field is repped by CAA and Hofflund/Polone.
"Emily's Reasons," from Sony Pictures TV and Pariah, centers on a self-help author (Graham) who doesn't take her own advice when it comes to dating.
Graham, who has starred in such movies as "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" and "The Guru," is recurring on the NBC comedy "Scrubs." She is repped by UTA, the Firm and attorney Kevin Yorn.
Meaney will play the supporting character of Alistair in 20th Century Fox TV/Adelstein-Parouse Prods.' drama pilot "Briar & Graves," which revolves around a female doctor (Elisabeth Rohm) and a priest (Charles Mesure) who team up to investigate unexplained religious phenomena.
Meaney, who is on the big screen in "The Boys & Girl From County Clare" and the Sundance hit "Layer Cake," is repped by Paradigm and attorney Stephen Breimer.
Touchstone TV's untitled Mike Caleo project (formerly "Neighbors") revolves around two dueling neighbors, one of them to be played by Clarke, who have to deal with each other when their wives and kids become friends.
Clarke, who has a talent deal with Touchstone TV, most recently recurred on FX's "Rescue Me." He is repped by Paradigm.
"The Unit," from 20th Century Fox TV, revolves around the members of a Special Forces unit and their families. Patrick will play one of the team members.
The actor, who most recently appeared in "Ladder 49," next appears in CBS' "Elvis" miniseries. He is repped by Endeavor.
"Deviant Behavior," written and exec produced by Josh Berman, is a procedural crime drama revolving around a team that tracks serial killers. Regency TV is producing.
Messner, one of the stars of "Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid," appears in the film "Hostage." The actor, who is under a talent deal with Fox, is repped by Endeavor, McKeon-Valeo-Myones Management and attorney Greg Gelman.
