A-hunting Gellar goes in WIP flick
Gellar in WIP film
May 4, 2005
Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to star in Warner Independent Pictures' untitled Marc Klein project, based on the stories from Melissa Bank's book, "A Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing." Odd Lot Entertainment's Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker are producing along with Darryl Taja.
The story follows a young New York book editor (Gellar) who always has defined herself by the type of man she can get. When she meets and ensnares the affections of an older, very powerful and extremely sophisticated man, she thinks her problems are solved when they've only just begun. Klein wrote the screenplay.
"She is really the character," Del Prete said about Gellar. "She is smart, bright and an intellectual. She really is like a New York girl: well-read, sexy and on top of her game. I also think it's a role she hasn't done before, and I think when actors try something new, that's when you get the best performance."
A September start date is being eyed.
Odd Lot is producing and co-financing along with WIP. The company recently produced the critically acclaimed "Hooligans."
Linda McDonough is co-producing, while Suzanne Warren is exec producing.
Gellar, repped by the Firm and attorneys Debbie Klein and Kevin Yorn, just wrapped Guy Ritchie's "Revolver" and will shoot Richard Kelly's "Southland Tales" in the summer. She most recently starred in "The Grudge," which grossed $110 million domestically.
