NBC's 'Hit Me' in tune with ratings
'Hit Me' in tune
June 4, 2005
NBC enjoyed a bit of a revival in the 9 p.m. hour Thursday with the debut of "Hit Me Baby One More Time." The unscripted competition series featuring hit-makers of yesteryear tackling contemporary tunes opened to a respectable 8.6 million viewers and 4.5 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. CBS' encore of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (13.9 million, 4.1/12) won the hour in viewers but "Baby" racked up the highest demo score on an otherwise rerun-laden night. CBS was solid at 10 p.m. with a repeat of "Without a Trace" (12.2 million, 3.5/10) easily topping NBC's "ER" encore (6.4 million, 3.0/8) and ABC's "Primetime Live" (6.9 million, 2.3/7). The opening hour of primetime was a dead zone of repeats other than UPN's "WWE SmackDown!" CBS' "Cold Case" rerun (9.2 million, 2.2/7) was No. 1 in viewers; NBC's back-to-back encores of "Will & Grace" (6.1 million, 2.6/9) led the demo column. For the night, CBS was tops in viewers (11.8 million) and tied NBC for bragging rights in adults 18-49 (3.3/10).
