"Hell's Kitchen" had some heat in it Monday as Fox's summer original series wrapped its run with nearly 9 million viewers checking out the finale of the culinary competition.
The final installment of "Kitchen" drew 8.9 million viewers and 4.4 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demographic as contestant Michael Wray, a chef from Fort Collins, Colo., presented his dream-restaurant to host Gordon Ramsay cinch the competition. The 8 p.m. penultimate installment brought in 6.7 million viewers and 2.7/10 in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research.
Fox didn't have much competition for the night, though CBS' 10 p.m. "CSI: Miami" rerun (9.9 million, 3.2/9) pushed past "Kitchen" to rank as the night's most-watched program overall. CBS also had strong returns for the 9 p.m. encore of "Two and a Half Men" (9.5 million, 2.9/8) but the eye network took a dive at 9:30 p.m. with "Rock Star: INXS" (5.8 million, 2.2/6), which made "CSI: Miami's" growth spurt all the more impressive.
NBC served up repeats of its regular Monday lineup, led in the numbers race by the 10 p.m. repeat of "Medium" (5.8 million, 2.1/6). ABC was better off than it has been on Mondays this summer with its 8-11 p.m. telecast of 1999's spooky thriller "The Sixth Sense" (6.4 million, 2.4/7).
For the night, CBS prevailed in total viewers (8.3 million) while Fox had a mile-wide lead in adults 18-49 (3.7/11) over second-ranked CBS (2.6/8).
