Oct 20, 2005
Courteney Cox has signed on to star in an untitled comedy for Paramount Pictures.
Cox and husband David Arquette will produce through their Coquette Prods. banner. Susan Walter has been tapped to write the screenplay.
The story centers on a Southern socialite (Cox) whose daughter's transformation from little princess to street hip-hop dancer at first shatters her world, then gives the two common ground.
Paramount's Pam Abdy will oversee for the studio.
Coquette has several TV projects in development and production, including "Daisy Does America," "Talk Show Diaries," "Mix It Up," "Dirt Squirrel" and "Midnightly News."
Cox most recently starred opposite Tim Allen in the upcoming Sony/Revolution film "Zoom," directed by Peter Hewitt, which is in postproduction.
Walter, a graduate of the DGA Assistant Director Training Program, wrote the romantic comedy "Seven-Year Switch," which is set up at Sony with Red Wagon producing and Mike Nichols attached to direct.
Cox is repped by WMA and Brillstein-Grey.
Walter is repped by WMA and Untitled Entertainment.
