Feig cares for 'Minors' at Warners
Feig adopts 'Minors'
Nov 8, 2005
Paul Feig, the creator of "Freaks and Geeks," has been hired to polish and direct "Unaccompanied Minors" for Warner Bros. Pictures.
"Minors" is based on a Jan. 6, 2001, segment of "This American Life." In a nine-minute radio essay, Susan Burton recounted her childhood experience of being snowed in at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport the day after Christmas, stranded with other kids from divorced families who spent the holidays flying from one parent to the other. The kids end up bonding and create a makeshift holiday for one another. The project is being described as "The Breakfast Club" at an airport.
Lauren Shuler Donner is producing via the Donner Co. along with Michael Aguilar. Ira Glass, host and creator of "American Life," is executive producing with Julie Snyder.
Glass and his "American Life" have a first-look deal with the studio.
Mya Stark and Jacob Meszaros were the original writers on the project. Kate Kondell wrote the most recent draft, which attracted Feig.
Dan Lin and Lauren Craniotes are overseeing for Warners.
The project is slated to shoot in February.
Feig, repped by WMA, recently wrote "Star Girl" for Paramount, an adaptation of a young adult novel by Jerry Spinelli. He also is the author of "Superstud: Or How I Became a 24-Year-Old Virgin."
