ABC has given the green light to a comedy pilot from Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman, the duo behind NBC's "Ed," to star Donal Logue.
The untitled project, from David Letterman's Worldwide Pants and Touchstone Television, centers on a group of blue-collar guys in New York City who decide to rob a celebrity. (The project had been shopped around with the cheeky title "I Want to Rob Jeff Goldblum.")
In addition to writing, Burnett and Beckerman are executive producing the pilot with Letterman. Burnett is set to direct.
Burnett and Beckerman created and executive produced "Ed," which ran for four seasons. The two received an Emmy nomination in 2001 for writing the show's pilot.
Burnett and Beckerman, both Emmy winners for their work on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman," are repped by CAA.
Logue, who toplined the Fox/WB Network comedy "Grounded for Life," most recently co-wrote, directed and starred in the indie "Tennis, Anyone?" now in limited release.
He next appears in the features "Groomsmen" and "Ghost Rider."
Logue is repped by CAA, manager Perri Kipperman and attorney Shep Rosenman.
