'Johnson' clan books second trip
'Vacation' plans
Dec 20, 2005
The Johnson family is hitting the road again. Fox Searchlight is moving forward with a sequel to "Johnson Family Vacation" and has tapped Wayne Conley to write it.
A follow-up to last year's low-budget comedy that earned more than $31 million domestically, "Johnson Family Vacation 2" is expected to pick up where the Johnsons' holiday ended. The first film, which starred Cedric the Entertainer, followed the Johnson family on their cross-country trek to their annual family reunion. Cedric the Entertainer is expected to reprise his role.
Fox Searchlight's Claudia Lewis and Lawrence Grey will oversee for the studio.
Conley, whose credits include New Line Cinema's "King's Ransom," sold the pitch "Say Uncle" to Fox Searchlight last year. He also rewrote "Sons of the Hammer" for Strike Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
He is repped by Paradigm, manager Darryl Taja and attorney Rob Szymanski.
