Bruce Sinofsky is poised to make some more noise.

On the heels of his documentary "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," the helmer will turn his camera on rocker Tommy Lee. The still-untitled film, in preproduction, is slated to begin shooting in the spring.

Lee's manager Carl Stubner will executive produce along with Jenna Barnes, Jon Kamen and Frank Scherma.

"In the rock world, there are few figures as colorful as Tommy Lee, and not just because of his tattoos," Sinofsky said. "This project seeks a candid glimpse behind the celebrity and tabloid personality into who Tommy really is, watching him interact with family, friends and business associates."

Sinofsky and directing-producing partner Joe Berlinger won a 2005 Independent Spirit Award for best documentary for "Metallica." The pair also shared Emmy and Peabody awards for the 1996 documentary "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills," which aired as part of HBO's "America Undercover" series.

"I'm honored that Bruce is turning his cameras loose on me," Lee said.
