It's 'Idol' again
Feb 3, 2006
Wednesday night belonged to Fox and "American Idol" once again.
The 8 p.m. edition of "Idol" lured 30.2 million viewers and 12.4 rating/32 share in the adults 18-49 demographic on a night that had its share of repeats on the competing networks. The only program that came anywhere close to delivering even half of "Idol's" audience was CBS' 10 p.m. drama "CSI: NY" (16.2 million, 5.3/14).
ABC's big Kahuna "Lost" (9.3 million, 3.4/8) took a breather with a repeat, as did CBS' 9 p.m. drama "Criminal Minds" (13.3 million, 3.8/9), which nonetheless impressed by topping "Lost" and spiking from its 8:30 p.m. "Yes, Dear" (7.3 million, 2.2/5) lead-in. Fox's "Bones" (12.6 million, 5.2/12) won the hour in adults 18-49 but is still having trouble capitalizing on its "Idol" adjacency. NBC had a ho-hum night all around with 8 p.m.'s "E-Ring" (7.7 million, 1.8/5), 9 p.m.'s "The Biggest Loser" (8.3 million, 3.6/8) and 10 p.m. encore of "Law & Order" (8.9 million, 2.8/7).
All in all, there was no contest for the nightly bragging rights. Fox rocked with an average of 21.4 million viewers and 8.8/22 in the key demo.
